Recap – My 27th year (Project 365)

I have spent the last couple of days going through my pictures and choosing my favourite ones. I tried to choose a couple for each month (which was very hard since some months were full of fantastic pictures memories).

Lets start with the month in which I turned 27!

November 2012

I love celebrating birthdays so I always try doing something special for each of them. For my 27th some friends, hubby and I went to London. We spent the night eating and drinking at one of my favourite restaurants in London. Lima serves amazing cocktails as well as food and it is a fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion. The following day we spent it at Camden Market; it is ideal for street photography.

Camden Markets

December 2012
One of my favourite months of the year. I love Christmas, during this month we try to do as many Christmassy things as possible. Whether it is watching films, decorating the tree, going to a play or to the markets.

January 2013
This month brought lots of frost and snow. I love the snow as long as I don’t have to drive to work. The roads I mostly use are narrow country lanes which never get gritted. It can be quite scary, specially at night.

We also went on holiday to Brussels. It’s a beautiful city and found lots to do during our stay. We bought lots of chocolate and tried lots of different beers.

Can you guess where I am?

February 2013
Looking back it was one the best months in terms of photography. It was very hard choosing just three pictures for this month but the below are the ones I liked best.

Dutton Horse Bridge

Tulip Stigma

The picture below is one of my favourite of all the ones I took during the duration of the project.

New Brighton Lighthouse

March 2013
March was the month of experimenting. I had a go at fast and slow shutter speeds and my macro skills started to improve.

Orange Lilies

Water Droplet

Salford Quays

Snowflakes

April 2013
April brought my husband’s birthday, we had the family over for some food and cupcakes. I custom ordered them as he is a big Star Wars fan. They were amazing!

May 2013
Beautiful May! We started venturing outside more and as you may have noticed more flowers on my posts (more than usual!); they are one of my favourite subjects along with landscapes. We also went to a couple of shows, one of them being the Bushcraft Show (picture below).

June 2013
June was the month of adventures! We went on an unforgettable holiday to France and Italy. We planned the trip ourselves and tried to fit as many activities as we could into each day. Italy is such an amazing country with lots and lots to see. Wish we had a little bit more time though as we couldn’t fit everything we wanted to see and do into our itinerary.

July 2013
Summer finally arrived to the UK! For most of this month we had amazing weather, it felt like we were still in Italy. We had a picnic sitting by the river at Chatsworth House and then visited the gardens. It was so a different from the last time we went for a picnic – it rained all day and we had to have our picnic sitting in the car.

August 2013
This was the month of the butterflies and the last month in our old house. We had a butterfly friendly garden and every summer we would get lots of them.

September 2013
This is the month we moved to our new home. The best month of 2013!

October 2013
One of the qualities we love about our new place is its location. There is no light pollution, it can get pretty dark at night and we can see the beautiful stars. October saw the arrival of Autumn, I went on a Masterclass to Tatton Park and spent the day photographing the gardens which looked beautiful at this time of the year.

November 2013
This was my last month and it brought my 28th birthday. Hope this year is just as wonderful as the last one was.

For the future, I am hoping to start a 52 Week Challenge in February, see the list below for the subjects. (It will run over until next January when all 52 weeks are done). I will also be sharing a picture of our travels on Thursdays and on Mondays having a look back at photographs I took over the last year and haven’t had the opportunity to share with you. Hope you enjoy it and continue checking my blog.

Day 365 – One room done…

and lots more to go!

This is my last day and also my last post as part of my Project 365. I hope to do a recap in the next couple of days, so don’t forget to check!

I started this Project thanks to my husband, he encouraged me to do it and he kept on supporting throughout the 365 days. I started this Project on the 20th of November 2012 (my birthday) and I wanted for the project to be like a memory box (digital one) of my 27th year.

I finished taking pictures on the 19th of November 2013 and the picture below is of our finished bedroom. We got it done just in time for my birthday.

I would have loved to finish posting on the same day I finished taking pictures, but it has been very hard on the last couple of months. I have been very busy at work as well as trying to get the house done in time for Christmas (even then we didn’t get everything we wanted ready in time). All of these things had left me completely exhausted and with little time spare to take pictures as well as posting. I am glad it is all finished, now I can concentrate on getting our house done. We are hoping to have all the family over as well as having a House Warming Party sometime in the next few months.

I am not sure how my blog will go forward from now on, since I won’t be doing another Project 365. One was enough! (maybe I’ll have a rethink in a couple of years). I promise to come back in a few weeks with some new ideas on how I’ll continue with my blog in 2014. Hope you all have enjoyed my posts and a big thank you to all my followers for taking some time to read my posts, it has encouraged me to keep on going. Wish you all an amazing New Year!

Day 364 – Peruvian Lilies

One of the pictures I posted on my second day of my Project 365 was of some Peruvian Lilies (click here to see the post). Doing this project has helped me a lot with my photography skills.

Here is the picture of the lilies 363 days later.

Day 363 – Open Fire

We had been in our house a little over two months when we finally acquired a fireplace guard. I didn’t want to turn the fire on as we have carpets in the living room, thankfully the weather hadn’t been too cold. We have not had radiators put on the walls either as the plaster was still drying. So the fireguard came just at the right time. We have started using the fireplace everyday and it has been wonderful, the noise, the smell and the warmth are great. It has taken us a few weeks to get the hang of starting and keeping the fire going but we are getting there.

Here is a photo of our first attempt.

Day 362 – Early Celebrations

The weekend before my 28th birthday, hubby and I went to see his family for an early birthday celebration. We had some Chinese food and was lucky enough to get two birthday cakes! They were both delicious 🙂

Here is a photo of the day.

Day 361 – Masquerade Ball

Sorry for spamming your feed but I would like to finish all my posts by tomorrow. I hope to do 5 more tomorrow and be done with my Project 365 by the end of the year.

The 15th of November we were told that the work’s Christmas Party will be held at the Manchester Art Gallery. Everyone all the girls were really excited! It was a chance for us to put on a nice dress and getting our hair and make up done!

Day 360 – Wedding Album

Little by little we are unpacking all our things. We have unpacked all the items we need everyday, like clothes and Kitchen utensils but paintings and books still remain in boxes. We are getting the rooms ready before deciding where to put them. As we are coming close to finishing off the living room, and got some of our new furniture delivered we decided to unpack our wedding album. It brings such lovely memories!

Day 359 – Arroz Chaufa

Lots of pictures of food! Below is a picture of another Peruvian dish, the dish is called Arroz Chaufa. We have quite a few dishes in Peru with Chinese influence. It is very similar to Stir Fried Rice but it has a few different ingredients, like spring onions, egg omelette, chicken and peppers. It is easy and fast to make.

Day 358 – Pumpkin Pie

I had always wanted to have a go at baking a pumpkin pie. The first time I tasted one was a few years ago when I lived in Utah. My host mother had baked lots of pies for Thanksgiving, the pumpkin and banana ones were my favourite. I like making things from scratch and this pie wasn’t going to be any different. I made my own pastry and also did the filling myself. For my first attempt at baking one, it turned out okay. Hubby loved it! He ate most of it 🙂

Here is a picture of my Pumpkin Pie.

Day 357 – Butterfly in November

We found this butterfly on top of our table. It is nearly mid November and the temperature outside is very cold so we were surprised to see it still hanging around. After taking a couple of pictures, hubby took it outside and let it go. Hope it has found a safe place where to hibernate.
