We went to visit Shakerley mere again yesterday afternoon. We got there at around half six just as the sun was setting. The mere is right next to the M6 so is very noisy, yet I was surprised to see lots of wild life around. The mere used to be a salt quarry for when the motorway was being built. It was later filled with water and made into a park. It is a beautiful place considering the noise which you soon learn to ignore and start enjoying the scenery.
