Scotland: Edinburgh’s Royal Mile

The Royal Mile is a succession of streets forming the main thoroughfare of the Old Town and it runs between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. I took the photo as we were walking towards the palace, the sun had set and we had some lovely colours in the sky. Edinburgh’s Old Town is beautiful, the buildings are full character and history. Edinburgh is now one of my favourite cities, along with Florence and Paris.

52 Project – W1: Valentine’s Day

We went to Edinburgh a few years ago, we didn’t stay for very long because we had Penny with us. The few hours we spent there were not enough to be able to truly appreciate how beautiful it is.

Last weekend, we spent three days in Edinburgh and yet feel we did not see everything it has to offer. We spent most of Friday at the zoo, both hubby and I had been looking forward to seeing the pandas, in the evening we went for a meal at Kyloe Steak Restaurant & Grill. The meal was amazing, it had been a long time since we had such a great steak. We spent Saturday morning at Edinburgh Castle and walking around the Royal Mile in the afternoon. Most of Sunday we spent it at Holyroodhouse Palace.

The theme for my first week of the 52 Project was Valentine’s Day and as I mentioned on last Friday’s post, I found it difficult and did not capture what I was hoping to. The picture below was taken in the gardens of Holyroodhouse Palace. The picture is of a couple of friends walking side by side, valentine’s day is not only about love between couples but also about friendship.

Isle of Bute: Firth of Clyde

Travel Thursday:

The picture below was taken four years ago in the Isle of Bute, Scotland. Bute is very beautiful, we fell in love of the Isle as soon as we arrived. We drove to the southern part of the island and made our way uphill to the ruins of St Blane’s Church. The picture below was taken at the top of the hill which has views of the Firth of Clyde and the Isle of Arran.

Day 360 – Wedding Album

Little by little we are unpacking all our things. We have unpacked all the items we need everyday, like clothes and Kitchen utensils but paintings and books still remain in boxes. We are getting the rooms ready before deciding where to put them. As we are coming close to finishing off the living room, and got some of our new furniture delivered we decided to unpack our wedding album. It brings such lovely memories!

Day 37 – Isle of Bute

My Christmas was great but my boxing day wasn’t so! I am poorly and spent the whole day in bed feeling very sorry for myself. This is the second time, I really hope this doesn’t happen again but I have not left my bed all day and there were no pictures taken today.

The picture I am sharing today was one of the first ones I took with my Nikon. This photo was taken on the Isle of Bute, Scotland. One of the reasons we decided to get married in Scotland was because of its beautiful landscapes and the Isle of Bute is not short of them!
