100 Happy Days – Week 1

I have completed my first week of the 100 Happy Days challenge and it has been great! I have been paying more attention to those little things that make me smile and ignoring those ones that don’t!

I started the challenge on Monday. It is hardest day of the week for me but going to bed early and getting to read a book was blissful!

Hubby does most of the cooking in our household and as the creative chef that he is, he can be a little messy. Working together and getting our kitchen looking spotless made my day! (Those little things in life!)

An acquaintance of my husband grows a lot of veggies at home, one of them is the Oca (Oxalis Tuberosa). The Oca is a tuber grown in the Peruvian Andes; I used to eat them when I was young but was never a big fan. I haven’t eaten them in over 11 years! He sent us some and I am looking forward to growing our own and trying them again.

After a very grey winter, I am loving spring! It has continued raining but all the pretty seasonal flowers brighten up those grey days!
Lovely daffodils

I took last Friday off work and took my mother in law for an afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday! We had a lovely afternoon and I am glad we got to spend some quality time together.

Saturday was another exciting day! I got to spend it with my friend Sarah; she lives in Manchester now so I don’t get to see her as often as I would like to. We have started making some plans so I hope to see her again pretty soon!

A few months ago, I got asked by some friends whether I could do their wedding invitation. It makes me feel very happy when people trust me to do something so important. I showed them on Sunday the first draft of the invitation and they liked it! I finished it yesterday and now it is all ready for the printers! Happy days!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and that maybe you get inspired to take part of the challenge! Documenting those happy moments will make them last forever!

Some of you may have heard about the 100 Happy Days Challenge. If you would like to know more about it or take part click here.

The thing I like the most about this challenge is that whoever is taking part, will try to find something positive about each day and pay more attention to the little things that makes them happy. Today I was listening to some music on Spotify, the side bar gives you suggestions on other music you may also like. One of the suggestions was band I used to listen to when growing up, being able to listen to those songs again after 12 years brought a huge smile to my face. (sometimes it’s those little things that make you smile!)

The main reason behind me taking part on this challenge is to have a more positive outlook. In those days that I am finding it hard to smile, I will have to look for something around me that makes me happy. It will make me focus on those positive things rather than dwelling on the bad things or difficulties of every day life. If you fancy taking part or getting everyday updates about those little things that make me smile you can follow me on Instagram, remember if you are taking part to use ‘#100HAPPYDAYS’.

If you are not in Instagram, I will post a weekly update here in the blog!

Instagram Friday – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Instagram Friday – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Update 15th Feb: I am finding this week’s theme for the 52 week photography challenge very difficult. I have taken lots of pics with my phone but have struggle to capture anything with my Nikon. We have one more day … Continue reading

Here are my Instagram photos of the week. The days are getting lighter, although the weather has taken a turn for the worst! It has rained most of the week 😦

We are going to Edinburgh next weekend and I will be starting my 52 Week Photo Challenge then! My first topic will be: Valentine’s Day.

Instagram Friday

This week at work has been super busy, we had about three weeks in Jan when things calmed down and we were able to breath but it is all back to normal now. Being busy at work makes me want to just chill when I get home and not do much. So hubby is great and cooks four days a week while I do the other three. My lack of pictures this week just shows how tired I have been this past week! I hope to get used to the busyness at work and get back to doing more things in the evenings like taking pictures or sorting out the house. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Here are my favourite Instagram photos from the past week.

Over the weekend, we finally had our wooden floors fitted. In the pictures you can see the before and after, it looks amazing!

As mentioned on my post ‘Blue Monday‘ at work we were given cupcakes in order to combat the most depressing day of the year. In the picture you can see the delicious cupcake we received!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Below are my favourite Instagram pictures of the past week. On Sunday we went for a meal with hubby’s brother and his girlfriend. It was the first time the four of us got together and had a good chat. We also bought some Daffodils, I am surprised to see them in the shops so early in the year. They are so pretty and lift the mood of the house in these grey winter days.

We are getting our floors fitted this weekend and are super exited! Can’t wait to see it all finished as it is one of the last big things we are getting done in the cottage for the time being. What plans do you have for this weekend? Do you have any exiting news to share?

Hope you all have had a fantastic week!
