We went to Chatsworth House around this time last year. The picture below was taken on the grounds overlooking the stone bridge that gives access to house. We have been to Chatsworth a few times and both of us love visiting, we love walking around the grounds and visiting the local farm shop. We always make sure we visit the shop before we make our way home as the meat is fresh and very tasty!
I was very busy last week and wasn’t able to take any pictures for the 52 week challenge, I hope to continue with it this week. Hubby has kindly offered to choose the subjects for each week and this week’s subject is…Clouds!
This (if I remember correctly) was the first day of the longest heat wave I have experienced in England. It was going to be a lovely day so we made our way to Chatsworth House and enjoyed a picnic by the river side. After the picnic we made our way around the house grounds. The garden is divided in different areas and my favourite is the Rose Garden.
It was very hard to choose one picture as all the ones I liked were of different subjects; like the flowers, dragonflies, fountains and the house. I decided to go for the picture of the house since it is the subject of this post.
Here are some of my other favourite pictures taken on the day.
Today we went to Chatsworth House. ‘Pride & Prejudice’ and ‘The Duchess’ were filmed at the house. It is set in the heart of the Peak District and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. I love going to Chatsworth, the house is spectacular, the gardens are extensive and there is always lots to do and see. I should have checked the website before we set off because on arrival we were told the house was closed until March. Duh!
We still had a walk around the grounds, visited the Stables and later on went to the Farm Shop to have a late lunch. It was cold outside but the sun shined all day. It was a great day out! I am going back in March to get some pictures inside the house and the gardens.
