Day 212 – A day in Paris…

I took over 290 pictures in that one single day in Paris. It took me a couple of days to go through and edit them. It was even harder to choose just a few photos for this post, I hope you enjoy them πŸ™‚

It was loud thunder that woke me up that morning, followed by some lightning and more thunder. I can’t remember the last time I woke up to that sound. I don’t usually like the sound of thunder but on this day I loved it. It may have been that we were in Paris and even loud thunder adds to the romanticism of this city. After some breakfast we made our way to the Gare de Lyon, left our bags there and walked to the Seine. Got tickets for the Batobus which took us to our first stop, the Louvre.

After taking some pictures around the Louvre we walked back to River and made our way to the next stop. Can you guess what was our next stop?

Yes, our next stop was Paris’ Iron Lady. The picture below is my favourite of all the ones I took on this day, so here it is picture 212.

Eiffel Tower

After queuing for a little while, we made our way to the top. Last time we visited the tower we took the stairs and only made it to the second floor, but this time we went for the elevator which took us all the way to the top. While at the top we both had some champagne and toasted to the place which started our journey as husband and wife. Below are some picture we took while at the top.

After spending some time exploring each floor of the tower we made our way to the final stop of our little tour. We went to the Notre Dame, we walked around it, took some pictures and then had some food. As we were leaving the restaurant a monsoon like rain started and we got completely soaked, the rain was so bad that the sole of my shoe came off. Yes, I had to walk the rest of the way back with a sole-less shoe. Before we made our way back though, we stopped by the Pont des Arts and as we didn’t do last time, we attached a padlock with our names and the date of our engagement.

Once the rain stopped we walked back to the station and took the overnight train to Venice. We really enjoyed our time in Paris and just wish we had more time to enjoy it.
